The project ‘Demonstration of the HydroNet Water Control Room for South African Water institutions’ was awarded the Dutch Partners for Water Award 2017! This award goes to the most inspiring project funded by the Partners for Water facility, and we are very proud to be part of the winning project!

The project addressed the need for affordable and smart ICT solutions that support sustainable use of the South African water resources. The HydroNET platform was introduced, which combines information from both the water and earth-observation sectors, and makes this available via a personalised online dashboard with smart water applications; the Water Control Room. With this tailored information water authorities can take the right decisions at the right moment in order to make better use of the water resources and reduce damages caused by drought, floods, extreme weather events and leakages. The project was led by Hydrologic Systems who developed HydroNET and implemented in partnership with Waterschap Groot Salland, WineJob, KNMI, ITC and eLEAF.
