Water productivity
eLEAF’s water productivity expresses the quantity of crop produced per unit of water in kg/m3. To be able to feed the growing population with diminishing water resources, crop production needs to be increased. More crop per drop. Water productivity data can be used to support that. It can be used to set standards and as a baseline to monitor improvement. Water productivity data allows the ranking and labelling of agricultural products according to their water use efficiency, as an indicator of sustainability. It is quantified, simple to use and crop specific. It can be delivered for an individual farm, an irrigation system or even at national or continental scale.
